Album Release Info: Tye Tribbett – StandOUT

Finally!  The time is coming:

Columbia Records will release StandOUT, the much anticipated new album from the contemporary gospel singer, songwriter, and performer Tye Tribbett and his gospel choir and musical ensemble, G.A. (Greater Anointing), on Tuesday, May 6. StandOUT is the first new full-length album from Tye Tribbett and G.A. since the groundbreaking gospel artist’s Victory Live! entered the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart at #1, shortly following its release in May 2006.

Recorded live at Rock Church International in Virginia Beach on August 17, 2007, StandOUT premieres a group of new musical testimonies to the Power of the Word and the Glory of the Holy Spirit, each written or co-written by Tye Tribbett: “Stand Out,” “Hold On,” “Look Up,” “I Need You,” “Prodigal Son,” “All Hail The King,” “Hallelujah,” “Let Us Worship,” “So Amazing,” “He Has Made Me Glad,” “I Made It Through,” “Chasing After You,” and “Well Done.” As an added blessing for Tribbett fans, StandOUT includes the hidden bonus track, the single “Good In The Hood.”

All I’m waiting on now is his rumored “Praise & Workout” DVD.  You know that’s gonna rival Billy Blanks and nem.  At any rate, this will probably be the first CD I will cop since…2005 (Forgive me Lord.  The spirit of piracy, I loose your hold.)

Yung Joc Speaks about God?

Jesus, be a wet wipe for your boy, because I can’t take this any more…lol:

Yung Joc appears on stage for a performance as an assembly of youth swarms toward his direction, screaming at the top of their lungs.

Only this time, the rapper delivers a message nothing like his raucous songs “I Know You See It,” “Dope Boy Magic,” or his smash hit “It’s Goin’ Down.”

“I’m not trying to be a preacher, but God is real in my life,” he says, while his 2-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter stand near him at an event called Exodus, a soulful revival for youths.

After Joc’s testimony, the host of the event, Corey “CoCo Brother” Condrey, asks everyone to pray for the rapper. Many in attendance drop to their knees or stand place, tossing their hands toward the sky.

Yung Joc also said, “Somebody might say, ‘How can you talk to kids when you have a gun charge?’ But accidents happen and people make mistakes. With young men and women looking up to me, I have to let them know that I’m a man of God.” [source of story]

Dude said “accidents happen” lol.  How do you accidentally have a gun charge with blatant evidents?  I’m not knockin him being a man of God (despite seeing no fruit of it in his recent videos) but my boy IPS (from Thafeedback.com) said it best:

Yung Joc delivers his testimony…while facing a gun charge and shooting videos with David Banner LOL. They even got Dr. Bobby Jones to chime in on the article! My favorite was Bone Crusher: “‘That’s how we reach them,’ says Bone Crusher, who performed a rock-infused version of gospel.” What he perform!? I AIN’T NEVER SCARED…OF THE DEVIL! Yung Joc did “It’s Going Down (To Hell)” LOL. Church kids know what I am talking about…we always change the words of secular songs to make them churchy! Did we not learn enough from Ma$e though?!

I co-sign everything he said…LOL!

Love (God) In Da Club (or Bar)

Here’s one for the ages…

SIDNEY, Ohio – Another round and amen! Beer was on tap and a mechanical bull inspired the sermon as a new church held its inaugural service in a western Ohio bar.

The Country Rock Church drew about 100 people to Sunday night’s meeting at the Pub Lounge in Sidney, 35 miles north of Dayton.

The barroom church is an offshoot of Sidney United First Methodist Church, whose head pastor says he’s been looking for creative ways to reach people in unconventional places.

The church’s Web site for its new branch advertises “Top regional bands, pizza, wings, rowdy fun & a short message.”

The Rev. Chris Heckaman says people really seemed to enjoy themselves so he expects the Country Rock Church will meet weekly.

Heckaman’s sermon compared staying on the bar’s mechanical bull to learning how to get along in life.

“Rowdy fun and a short message?” Wow…well, isn’t this the Walmart of society’s Christian life.  Sin and repent in the same place huh?  I commend the pastor for being unorthodox, but he has a task in front of him.  I can’t even get my drunk Uncle to listen to me.  If he preaches from 1 Cor. 6:10 or Eph 5:18, then the congregation is gonna give him the SEOD (Side Eye of Death).

Brolic at The Tomb?

Now…this is beyond me.  If Jesus was in His grave (like the Saducees wanted Him to be), then He would be turning in it right about now.  Check this out:

A SCUFFLE broke out at the traditional site of Jesus’s burial yesterday when Greek Orthodox and Armenian believers, who fiercely protect their hold over sections of the shrine, traded blows.

Police said a fist-fight broke out after Armenian worshippers yanked a Greek Orthodox cleric away from a tomb in Jerusalem’s Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the traditional site of Jesus’s crucifixion and resurrection.

A spokesman said he did not know the cause of the scuffle. Fights are not uncommon among the representatives of Christian sects who jealously guard their rights to parts of the centuries-old church.

“There is always tension there between the different sides,” police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said. “That’s why police were on scene ahead of time to prevent any arguments or disturbances from breaking out.”

No injuries were reported but two Armenians were briefly detained. [source of story]

How in the land of Judea do you pick a fight in front of the burial site of Jesus?  Is this considered gang related, because if it is, then I don’t want to hear any rappers talking about how hard they are.  Fighting in front of the burial site of Jesus is as gansta as it gets.  Wow people…wow.

More Bynum/Weeks Problems…

Here we go again…

Attorneys for the minister accused in an assault of his estranged televangelist wife said he will speak out Friday.

The lawyers said Thomas W. Weeks III had held out hope that he and Juanita Bynum could reconcile even after she filed a petition for divorce on Monday, but now he had decided not to stand in the way.

Instead, they say the case would be submitted as an uncontested divorce and could be resolved within 31 days from the date the case started under Georgia law.

The 48-year-old Bynum’s divorce attorney, Karla Walker, is withdrawing the divorce petition filed in Ware County, where Bynum has a home, and re-filing the case in Gwinnett County, where Weeks lives.

Bynum is head of a ministry that also includes a gospel record label and successful seminar tours.

The 40-year-old Weeks is head of Global Destiny Ministries, based in Duluth.

SMH (Shake My Head)…it’s bad enough that this private matter has become public, but I declare…when I saw Juanita on Divorce Court the other day (which I will try to find on youtube as I type)…I was like…Lawd!  C’mon!  I have respect for the minister of God, but going on Divorce Court as a counselor?  Excuse my anology, but that’s like 50 Cent making a Praise & Worship CD.  On the flipside, God can use anybody, so I hope that works out.  At any rate, this mess needs to end so they both can go on with their lives.

Medical Scare for Warryn Campbell

Over a week ago award-winning producer Warryn Campbell had a medical scare.

Details are vague, but Campbell’s wife Erica, one-half of the gospel duo Mary Mary issued the following statement:

“In life, sometimes God throws a curve ball. And although we don’t always understand why things happen, we trust in a God who does all things well.

So as Warryn and our family go through this medical emergency, we hope everyone will understand our families need for privacy at this time.

Please keep us in your prayers. And thank you in advance”

Love -Erica Campbell [source of story]

I pray all is well.  Warryn Campbell is my dude.  Very talented musician/producer.

106 & Gospel?

First of all…welcome back.  I’ve been on a severe hiatus.  I apologize about that.  Well, I’m back to keep The Blospel more updated.  Now on to some fresh news.

PREMIERING Q3 2008 — 106 & GOSPEL – It’s the flagship brand extension you’ve been clamoring for: 106 & GOSPEL, an all-new 90-minute weekly music event this growing genre so righteously deserves. In addition to the incredible performances for which the 106 brand is known, 106 & GOSPEL features a top 20 countdown of contemporary gospel videos, news segments with Tye Tribbett, church fashion and roof-raising youth choir battles.

[…for this story and more new BET lineups, check here]

Now…The only thing I wish is that it had another name for it, but I guess 106 & Gospel will do for now.  I don’t know about the “roof-raising” part.  It seems a little 1990-ish to me, but eh…hopefully it will work.  I personally think Tye should be the host, but knowing BET, they’ll probably holla at Kirk first.  At any rate, I hope it all works out.
